European Defence and Security Initiatives: An Early Assessment

This round table discussion aims to debate the recent trends and initiatives in European security and defence policy and to make a first assessment. It is being co-organised by the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Athens.

The panel of distinguished specialists will update us on the state of the EU’s structured cooperation agenda, discuss the degree of strategic autonomy we desire and need, as well as the EU-NATO relations, and interpret the concepts of a European Defence Union and a European Army. It will explore the challenges of the current geostrategic context in the region and the stance of Greece within.
