We assume responsibility for Europe in difficult times. Together, in solidarity, future-oriented.

In the second half of 2020, Germany will assume the presidency in the Council of the European Union. On June 8, 2020 the SPD executive Committee adopted the following resolution.

"Germany will hold the EU Council Presidency at a time of existential challenges for the European Union and its citizens. The economic and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the continuing health threat posed by the virus, require a comprehensive and common European response. Europe can now prove that it acts in solidarity and that it is capable of providing support to the people in difficult times."
