Diskussion: Creating Jobs: Europe’s biggest challenge after the crisis: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Griechenland

Unemployment is one of the direst consequences of the deep crisis that hit Europe, especially in the South, after 2009. However, the following programs of austerity have not yet brought the growth needed for new jobs. Peter Bofinger, the member of the German Council of Economic Experts discusses with Greek experts, how Europe can cope with this challenge.

The dialogue on the creation of jobs is often one-dimensional and focusses either just on labour cost or on the broader economic background. The panel of ELIAMEP and FES brought therefore an expertise together that covered a broader range of issues. It had a representative from the Greek trade union institute, a young entrepreneur, a representative of the employer's union, as well as a German economist with a European view.

The debate was organised by the Crisis Observatory of ELIAMEP and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation - Athens Office.
