Diskussion: Should I stay or should I go? Youth and Migration

Emigration, Brain Drain, Lost Generation – we use these terms to describe a phenomenon that starts with a very personal and individual question: Should I stay or should I go? In Greece many young people are confronted with this question as staying means often unemployment or low-skilled and low-paid jobs.

More than 50% of young people under 25 are unemployed although Greek youths have never been so well educated before. Since they cannot see any prospects in their future in Greece, many of them decide to leave their families and friends behind in order to go abroad and search for a job. But there are also young people who choose to stay in Greece or comeback from abroad. They see a chance in the crisis, an opportunity to get their life started at home and make a difference in this difficult situation. Every single person has to find an answer to the following question: Should I stay or should I go?
