Analysis: Public perceptions of climate change and sustainability in Greece

As Greece becomes increasingly more vulnerable to the climate crisis in Europe, citizens’ perceptions are important in designing climate action. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung’s social-ecological transformation survey (2023) provides invaluable insights into public attitudes to climate change and sustainability.

Conducted in Greece, the study reveals citizens’ hopes and concerns regarding environmental challenges and societal adjustments. This analysis by Sandy Fameliari explores key themes such as public anxiety about climate impacts, attitudes toward policies, motivators for action, perceptions of the energy and heat transition, and the attribution of responsibility for addressing these issues.
